transmission slippin

My beretta has 127k miles, 27 of which i've put on it. The other day the trany starts slipping, so i get a filter, a modulator and some fluid... change the filter

fill it up and pop the new modulator on.... well it didn't help! I think i may have a

bad transmission, but it only slips when it goes in to 2nd gear, first gear drives

perfect, reverse works perfect, but its that second gear that it doesn't like. Does

any one know if it can possibly be the computer causing this? Or do i need a new

transmission? I'd hate to rip her apart and rebuild her just to find out she was

good already.... any thoughts are helpful

I was always told by my uncles (mechanics) that once you have a transmission problem its a bad idea to change the fluid. Said it could cause more problems than it solves. Other than that take it to a shop and see what they say, and also start calling junk yards to see if you can get a rebuilt or used transmission for your car, just in case.

changing the transmission fluid is never a bad idea, as for the cliff idea... fuk that

i have no problem rebuilding the ****** i just wanted to see if it could possibly be a

computer problem, but i will take it to a shop to get a free guesstimate

You can always get the CPU re-programmed just to make sure it's working correctly, then go from there....

Its more then likely going to be a dead ******, my beretta is on 121k miles and the ****** shifts as good as it did back when it had 80k on it....

There are flat metal rings inside on your ******, each ring has a friction material bonded to it, as the ****** wears that friction material gets thinner and will start to slip. The shift from first to second tends to be the most forcefull in auto trannys so 2nd gear usually starts slipping first.

A rebuild looks necessary.

join the club, my crx is in the shop getting a new clutch, shift linkage, bearings, and a limited-slip differential (for my own enjoyment //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ) well $1,500 it will be done next week.
