To Separate or Not?

Well I am getting ready to have a box built to hold 2 12" ID Overstocks.

I have gotten into a little debate at work about separating the drivers or not.

The box will be sealed and around 2.25 Cf or about, not sure yet. I will be running them with a 1000 W Mono Class D amp with one feed to the box.

So I need opinions on separating the subs, or letting them share the same air volume.

My opinion...

1 mono amp no divider

more then one amp or 2 channel stereo use a divider

share easier to do, dont have worry about getting the two chamber the same size

Belive it or not some bass plays in stereo. If you have a mono amp you will not have to worry about that. But if you have a 2/4 channel amp you will.

Seperating them also gives your enclosure more bracing, so that's a win win situation.

Believe it or not some bass plays in stereo. If you have a mono amp you will not have to worry about that. But if you have a 2/4 channel amp you will.

OK not to throw another kink in this but what about Mutual Coupling????

If you separate the drivers you loose out on this?

I agree on doing two chambers more bracing ect. But IIRC isnt bass normally recorded onto CD's in mono guess maybe some of the newer stuff is going stereo .
