Three Way Components? Under $300?

Does anyone know a set of good 3 way components? I know CDT makes some but they're $360, and I know Audiobahn makes em but I don't really trust them for SQ. I'd prefer if they'd play down to 50 Hz, but if not I guess that's fine as long as they have very good SQ.

My reason for wanting them in because I blew one of my kicker midbass drivers in my door and my Infinity Perfects are a bit deep so they make the right kickpod not fit perfectly, not to mention having 2 6.5" woofers is kind of redundant.

Other than the CDT's, right now I can only think of the Focal 165V3 for ~$350. Then the Focal 165K2's @ ~$370 and the JL Audio XR653-CSi for around $380 unauthorized from a couple online stores. Price just gets steeper from there. Perhaps ebay might be cheaper.

Ever think of going DIY?

Looked at the focals, they seem alright although I'm not a fan of titanium tweeters. I know RF also makes a 3 way but I really don't like RF products at all. I am actually considering the 3 way Audiobahns (since I found out they have a silk tweeter) which I've seen online for $220 at some websites.

EDIT: actually found the 2003 model CDT CL 3 ways for $250 at thezeb:

only complaint is that they only play down to 55 Hz.

Also Alpine makes some but one set costs thousands and the other goes for $400+ which is a bit more than I want to spend.

I haven't really considered doing it myself because I'm not that great with electronics (resistors and all that good stuff).

Well, the one thing I will suggest ... listen to them before you buy them, if at all possible.

Found out that the CDTs are too deep by 1/8" but I could probably just get a space for it. I don't know where to get a price quote for the Diamon HEX 3 way systems because you have to buy the 2 way and get the add on midbass or whatever.

How hard is it to make your own 3-way component system? I know the difficulty lies in making the cross over.

I will also throw in a .5" spacer with those too.

Don't think the CDTs would work well with a 1/2" spacer cause it would end up being too close to the grille. I'm looking right now to try to get some Diamond HEX speakers off ebay.
