The first Kicker product EVER to grab my attention. Seems really cool but I bet it will be overpriced.

Only 2kw? The old ones were rated for 10kw.

Link?

Edit: oh you mean the 5krms ones. Looks like only the 18" had a 3.5" coil and the 12" has a 3" coil. The new one will probably be a lot nicer than an old 04S12X2

Isn't the new solo x supposed to have a drop in recone? No gluing needed or something like that?
Also, I think they're also supposed to come out with an L7R or some new L7 that is supposed to handle more power than the new solo x. This is just what I've heard second hand. I haven't really been paying loads of attention to what kicker has been doing

If they were like ~$800 I'd be totally down. But for $1000-1200 I would want neo and 3krms.
If the had 18s rated 5k like the old ones I would for sure be down for two.

All I remember from that show is them putting in a mini chandelier in a car. Very likely that person died the next week in a wreck

They were involved in a few lawsuits after people got their cars. The show would remove like 80-90% of the stuff after they were on the show or it would work just long enough for the show to show it then quit running.

Lots or articles out there..this one about it cracks me up especially the MTX line..

"Jake Glazier only had the car for about a month, as he sold it fairly quickly for about $18,000. He had originally bought the car for $500. But Glazier also regretted selling the car as the buyer -- MTX, the audio company whose product was in the car -- really just wanted their sound system back so it didn't fall into the hands of their competitors. "

I dont know what to think honestly. Kicker has been around for a very long time. My first quad set of subs were the StillWater gold letter series that kicked azz for a long time for me.But just like any mainstreem brand, they have gotten expensive and there are just as well made if not better made other brands for less. I stopped buying Kicker gear after the ZR amplifiers with exception of Tweeters and EQs

I've always liked the Solo X's, personally. I really hope I get to design for the new ones in the future. I would personally love to play around with and test a new Solo X. Kicker knows what it's doing, but that doesn't mean they are making a quality product that matches their prices. Hopefully their new Solo X is their flagship woofer, where they didn't design these subs like the rest of their subs 👀

Can somebody post up full t/s of the new Solo X's? I'd love to analyze any of them. Those t/s will tell me a lot. I've designed quite a few boxes for the older Solo X's. Those older Solo X motors used to be highly valued for round-cone woofer rebuilds, iirc, back in the day. The motors on those had some power to them, especially the bigger coiled ones. I know people are biased, but there are some diamond-quality woofers from companies that mostly produce over-priced coal, if you know what I mean, lol.
