This scamming shit has to end.

been here a good minute... i even offer REFUNDS when people whine because something isnt PERFECT when it was listed as USED....

never had a dispute, or a negative feedback...

right now i've got some ref's.. not a TON... but you also see in ever for sale thread I make :

Name

Email

Phone

AIM name

etc...

I always ship with my RETURN address on there etc... its not hard to be a GOOD seller...!!!

It is, but the cost of an escrow service can likely negate the savings of buying used, or atleast make it close enough to new prices to just skip the hassle and go new.
thats true thats y i say all the deals that go down on this forum are to be by major known reps thats way they can creat an account with ups and offer shipping discounts on top of the safety

true but scamers dont put to much infor out their i say put ur myspace phone number, return address ,no po box, email ,aim , and of coarse refs

I would say it would have to be, the item and the money comes to you.
Sending the product to me or any intermediary would get too expensive. Its better that the funds get held in trust while the transaction takes place. There are the silly PayPal fees, but buyer and seller could absorb 3% each to even things out.

If there was an alternative to PayPal that isn't so costly, I think folks would jump on this option.

^^ that is the shit I am talking about. WHAT THE ****!.........youve got to be out of your mind to buy that shit. This item shouldnt even be in the classifieds.
Do NOT pull that shit again.

As for the topic at hand- we can only do what we are able to.

We cannot IP ban, we can only ban a name- nothing stops that person from coming back under a new name 5 minutes later. We cannot do much of anything if they are on a dynamic IP or some sort of proxy. We also can't be on here watching over every single transaction- we don't get paid to do this, we all volunteer our time to this site and we receive nothing in return, and we do not ask for anything in return.

We try and set up rules, we set up guidelines, tips, etc. It's up to the people doing transactions to make sure they know what they are getting into. Yes, it sucks that people get scammed, and even some well-respected members have turned into scammers in the past. But we can only do so much.

We've urged Goob to look into a new classified system, we've given him links to vbulletin add-ons that he can implement, and he hasn't come back to us with anything.

I've posted a sticky, and I've urged members to PM me if they have any questions regarding a transaction or a member here. I've done literally hundreds of IP searches for members here and answered tons of questions, and I do not have a problem helping someone out.

Scamming is going to happen, regardless of what preventative measures we put in place- it always happens.

let me explain in detail lets say u (randy savage)is the major representative for new york let say E1234 from new york wants to sell to X98765 from fresno california. and im the major rep in fresno(kovemaster559), X98765 from fresno has to bring me the payment to my house , then u recieve the payment for E1234 and hand him the payment. u and E1234 test the product to make sure its as decribed , then u send the item to (kovemaster559). i then call X98765 to pick up the product and then smotth transaction. now u get it its a trird party method

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Agreed Kris, but I don't think we need a governing body to enforce those rukes...it is each member's personal responsibiltiy to create a set of rules for themself and then be disciplined enough not to jump on a "good" deal.
WINNAR!

You've GOT to do your homework into any person that you are giving any amount of real consideration into forking over your hard-earned $$$ to.

Ask questions. Ask HEAPS of freaking questions. The manner in which they answer these queries can tells volumes about a person. If it's legit then they shouldn't have any problems answering anything a potential buyer might want clarified prior to committing to any sale.

If the seller is reticent about making clear anything that might not be? Run. Run far, run fast.

Once you scam it should be perma ban.
Nice thought but not really possible, sadly...

I can't believe we are still *****ing about this. Buyer responsibility, know your seller. I understand that you can do all your homework and still get scammed, welcome to making a transaction on the internet. The lower prices don't come without risk.
Any rule anybody wants to enforce you can do personally in your buying decision. Its not like people are getting scammed left and right here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

A little personal responsibility can go a long way.
Ding! Ding! Ding! Yes, yes, and yes.

At hardforum.com they use heatware feedback system which works pretty well. Maybe we should start using it here.
Here is a link to mine

http://www.heatware.com/eval.php?id=63266

It list your feedback, email address and location.
It's been suggested over and over and over.

yep, im sure goob will get right on that.

The *safest* way for everyone (buyer and seller) is through an escrow service.
Yep.

Getting both parties to agree to both the extra expense and aggravation is going to be a bit problematic, however. Humans, by nature of the way we were created plus the current era's tendency towards instant gratification, are impatient creatures. How many threads have we seen about people getting called out as scammers (who weren't) because they made a sale and then committed that most heinous of crimes: failing to get product delivered to the buyer in approximately 17 seconds after the funds are transmitted?

first you have to get to the step where people will listen. Wont happen here.
Righto //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I understand you guys dont get paid for this.

I guess I just need to realize that this site will not change, and people will continue to get scammed. Oh well.

That's just too much.

What if someone is selling something in the boondocks and no one is remotely close to him? You can't expect a member to drive 200 miles to pick up a $200 sub..

Trust me, if we (the mods) were in a position to make changes, they would have already been made.

We have urged Goob to add one of the many plug-ins available for this forum in regards to the classifieds, but nothing has happened.

With the way it is, it's up to the buyer to take on the responsibility of making sure he knows who he's doing business with, like others have stated.

I've been on here for 6 years now, and I've done easily over 100 transactions on this site, and I've never had a problem, with anyone. I've always taken the time to do a little research on who's buying/selling to me, and it's never come back and bit me on the *** (knock on wood).
