All of my car audio gear (including what is currently installed and in use as well as everything else I have car-audio wise) is going with me. I have the makings of a pretty sweet starter system for my brother-in-law (head unit, amplification, substage, and all possibly needed wiring) excepting interior speakers so I'm gonna hook him up and then, of course, my current system will go into whatever kind of car we buy for me.

Take an eXcelon KDC-X679 [this] for a head unit, a pair of eXcelon KFC-Xw10dB 4 Ohm SVC 10's [these] driven by an eXcelon KAC-X401M [like this] (600w @ 2 Ohms) for the substage and then an old eXcelon (labeled as a Performance Standard) KAC-PS300T (100w X 2 @ 4 Ohm stereo) can be power for a solid front stage. (all the preceding I already have)

Add a component set and that'll make for a solid starter system for my brother-in-law, right?

I'll happily admit sub to sub there is no comparison.

For the $99/shipped BNIB I paid for the pair of 10s I have they are almost impossible to beat, though. In a manufacturer-spec sealed box on 600w between the pair they sound pretty F'en good, to tell the truth.

And like I said - for what I paid for 'em they're a class act indeed.

He has had systems before?

The most involved "system" he has ever had is the Clarion DB355 that my wife and I gave him for Xmas to replace an ancient dual-shaft SuperTuner (the original one - silver face) driving the factory speakers in his '85 Corolla. He was just happy to be able to play CDs in the car! I think he'll find what I plan to give him a heckuva upgrade.
