I just finished calculating how much my computer will be that i'm building. This is what i'm going to have in it and tell me what you guys think of it:

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ @ 2.2GHz Socket 939 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

DFI Lanparty UT nForce 4 Ultra-D Sockt 939 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Sapphire Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition 256MB GDDR3 PCI-E //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

OCZ 2048MB DDR PC3200 @ 400MHz Titanium Enhanced Lantacy Dual Channel 2x1024 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Seagate 200GB Harddrive w/8MB Buffer

Lite-on 52x32x52 CD-RW

Lite-on 16x DVD-ROM/48X CD-ROM

Sony Black 1.44MB Floppy

D-Link DFE-538TX

Audigy 2 ZS 7.1

Windows XP Pro

Hyundai 19in LCD Monitor

Xion 600watt PSU PCI-E Ready

This computer will be playing games as you can probably tell. I already have a case for it but i'm planning on building a case for it in the next few months. All this is cost me just a little over $3000 CDN and thats including taxes and shipping. Tell me what you think of it and if theres anything I should change on it. The reason why I didn't go with a DVD-Writer cause I don't plan on burning any DVD's anytime soon.

if you can you should probably swap that PSU out for something a bit higher end to go along with the rest of your parts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If the Xion is a rebadged quality PSU you will be fine but i dont recognize that name as a rebranded power supply.

DVD-RW drives are cheap, im not sure about in your currency, but you can get a good DVD-RW drive for $50 or less, which is what a regular CD burner costed a couple years ago. The DVD-RW drive will burn CDs also, its a great investment.

Id also swap that Seagate out for a Western Digital.

Okay I changed a few things around. The reason is, I don't need to spend that much on this computer just yet.

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ @ 2.2GHz Socket 939

DFI Lanparty UT nForce 4 Ultra-D Sockt 939

Sapphire ATI Radeon x700 Pro 128MB PCI-E

Corsair TWINX-1024-3200XLPT PC3200 2x512MB 2-2-2-5 w/ Silver Heat Spreaders

Western Digital 120 GB Hard Drive w/8MB Buffer

Lite-on 52x32x52 CD-RW

Lite-on 16x DVD-ROM/48X CD-ROM

Sony Black 1.44MB Floppy

D-Link DFE-538TX

Audigy 2 ZS 7.1

Windows XP Pro

Hyundai 19in LCD Monitor

OCZ Powerstream 420 watt PSU PCI-E Ready

Reason for lower end video card, I save about $600. I save about $400 by going with the Corsair memory. I save about $75 by going with that WD harddrive. I really don't save much by going to that PSU. So I save a little over $1000 by doing this. I can always upgrade later on. And I know that this will play any game out there right now. No need for a big computer yet.

if your going to be playing games on it, I reccomend a higher quality video card, for instance. You could get an invidia PNY geforce 6800 for 180$, trust me dude, this is probably the best card you can get, I have one and I can run halo on my pc with 100 fps (insane). Go to ebay and peep it out.

also, WD blows compared to seagate, but whatever you want to do =)

at least your getting an AMD . AMD>intel

I will never, ever use another nVidia video card. I had way too many problems with them. Also I've seen some benchmarks with this X700 and I was really impressed with it. I'm not looking for anything too crazy just yet. And it's only $150 CDN. For a 6800 here, it's about $300 CDN. Never found anything cheaper then that. And i'll never buy anything off ebay. I don't trust it. Oh believe me, i'll never use another Intel again. I used to use them, until the Athlon 64's 1st came out. Will never go back to a Intel again.

And that video card from ebay, thats AGP 8X. I need PCI-E cause my mobo only supports PCI-E cause it's a nForce 4 chipset.

ok, search for 6800 pci express.

Ati Vs Nvidia will never end, everyone has their preferences. I personally have nvidia and I have had problems with ati. But whatever you want, it is your comp =)

thank god for amd

AMD is the King of Gaming lol. The only experence I had with nVidia was with their FX series cards. I heard that the FX series was their worst series ever. Thats probably why, I desided to get ATI over nVidia.

As much as you dont want a nVidia card, you should get a nVidia 6600GT. Its a great inexpensive PCI-E card. And then later on you could get another and use them together (SLI) if you ever wanted to upgrade.

correct. Fx series cards shouldn't even have the nvidia name //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Ati isn't bad though, they actually run very well with amd.
