I've been told they're underrated I also know that that is the truth. But I would still rather stick with a lower wattage amp. #1 my hi's and mids will definitely need upgrading ( I actually like to "hear the words" and the bass) if I go 3k, at least from the pricing I've seen and been given, at least $500 for an alternator with proper amperage, somewhere around 2 to 3 hundred for a 3k like a Taramps or something, not to mention either more components added to what I have or better ones. All of this and I only have about 350 to spend . So I'm going to give the guys I contacted a day or so to get back to me if not I'll have to take one of the routes you guys have suggested just not 3k
The taramps 3k or the sundown sfb 3000 are both Full bridge technology so theyre super efficient just and will pull less current. The sfb is sundown too so boom, your ocd prevails and at 350.

do it:)

So do you think I will need a new alternator if I go with the Taramps or the SFB? Can you also explain or point me in the direction of an article showing the difference between them oh and i have changed all of my interior lights to a LED and will be doing the exteriors soon do you think that will take a drop the current draw of the vehicle significantly enough to stop me from having to get an H.O. alternator. There's actually a huge difference in the amount of electricity my old halogens versus these LEDs

a single 1500 Sae is likely going to give you close to similar output As the two amps you have now. Getting all 1500 watts out of that half bridge sundown you initially (sae1500) targeted is going to be a significant current draw no matter what.

A full bridge technology (taramps or sfb) will be easier on your electrical. the taramps 3k, likely similar to the sfb, pulls max of 150 amps of current musically and the taramps 1800 pulls 91 amps. What’s your vehicle? Either way, get an 1800 and let it ride or get a 3k and keep your gains conservative.

140 amp alternator, you should be fine with a full bridge amp. Should for sure commit to doing big 3, make sure frame grounds are clean. Probably should have an agm battery up front At least

Amp?
I tried looking for the Sundown Amp on their site there are only SAE Amps

Ok I talked to my local genius installer he said that battery I showed you wouldn't suffice and he also suggested the Taramps prior to you. Here my issue he said those amps don't like high voltage rca signals. Don't know if that applies to me I have a pioneer app radio4 . He also said they fail when underpowered but that it can be fixed to pull less than 3000w. So I'm guessing I won't be able to upgrade my amp until I get an alternator cause even if it is pulling less current 1500w plus my 4 channel still puts me in H.O. territory. Smh

I actually saw that one for 299 Im waiting for a reply on a question. I asked if it was cosmetically damaged or was it actually repaired. It matters cause for about 59 dollars more I can get one that hasn't been opened up.
$299 for a used Sundown 1500? You done lost your damn mind.

I think you could add a battery if you didnt want to buy an alternator and be fine. Just add a gauge on your dash to monitor your voltage. I think the only time you would even have a issue on your current setup is when your cranked full blast for longer periods. Monitor your voltage and youll know what you need.
