Sub volume

On my HU it has a no fade pre out which I am using for my sub preout. How does the volume work on this pre out? Right now with my new subs I keep the NF volume at -11(with the bass at 0). When I go into the dbdrag what should they be put to? They can go to +15 but I dont know if I should go that high and if I do what affect will it have? I just don understand how the deck can controll the volume of a preout. Does the preout voltage(4.5v) reach its max at the max volume?

with my old subs i always had the the sub volume around +3. Now with my new ED's at -11 and nothing but the ground wire changed(at the amp) its just so Fu**in loud! The one thing I did notice is that on the side of the amp it has an adjustable gain controll for the preout voltage. I set that at 4 to match the preouts on the deck. Should I have done that?

How does a drop in preout voltage effect sub volume?
