pretty basic question here, but lets say i buy a sub with max 800 watt power..should i get an amp thats also 800 watts? and the box im lookin at gettin its 20"X16"X6" and the sub says it needs a cubic foot...will it fit?

also im in a reg cab pickup so thats about the only size box i can go with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

thanks for the help

max power is nothing, look at RMS (Continous) power. if the sub cna take 800 MAX power, and the amp puts out 800MAX power, then you should be fine.

assumin box it's made of 0.75'', space comes out to 0.70, assuming sub takes at last 0.05, your box is 0.65 cu feet. what sub do you have, and why is the internal space so small for that box?

thanks for the help on the amp/sub.

for the box..hell if i know why its so small..looks like ill be building my own lol, its a truck box if that helps any...here ill post a link.

You can find that sub on ebay or from http://www.ikesound.com for US$50. Also keep in mind Future Shop will only replace a broken product once under warranty, even if you buy the ridiculously expensive extended warranty.

Build your own box. Those prebuild boxes are often not even made of MDF. They are made of cheap alternatives like particle board that have inferior sound dampening qualities.

For a small box woofer I'd go with something else. Those Pioneers need a rather large box.

okay thanks for the help man.

the guy that owned the truck before me had 2 10" behind the seat in his own box so i know i can fit at least a 10" back there....just gotta build my own box.
