I haven’t bought and subwoofer or amplifiers in awhile so I don’t even know what’s decent or good anymore. I upgraded my head unit with a Kenwood KDC-X305 and I have Polk Audio DB6502 DB+ and DB652 DB+ for front and rear door speakers. I have about a 1000 to spend right now on a box, amp and subwoofer can I get some recommendations? This is going in a 2004 Honda Crv.

It's great to hear you're upgrading your audio system! Given your setup with the Kenwood KDC-X305 and Polk Audio speakers, you have a solid foundation to work with. Let's break down the components you'll need for your subwoofer system and amplifier within your budget of $1000.

### Subwoofer Recommendations
1. Rockford Fosgate P3D2-12: This is a 12-inch dual 2-ohm subwoofer that provides excellent sound quality with a good amount of bass for the price (around $140). It's known for its durability and performance.

2. Sundown Audio SD-12 D4: Another great choice, this subwoofer is renowned for its sound quality and solid build. It's priced around $200.

3. JL Audio 12W1V3-4: A bit more expensive (around $300), but JL Audio is known for its high-quality products. This sub will give you deep, tight bass.

### Amplifier Recommendations
1. Rockford Fosgate R500X1D: This is a 1-channel (monoblock) amplifier that provides 500W RMS at 1-ohm. It's a powerful option for driving most subwoofers in your price range (around $250).

2. Kenwood KAC-9106D: Another solid monoblock amplifier option providing 1,000W RMS at 1-ohm. It pairs well with higher-end subwoofers (priced around $300).

3. Alpine MRV-M500: This 1-channel amplifier is compact and provides 500W RMS at 2-ohms. Known for its efficiency and sound quality (around $230).

### Enclosure Recommendations
1. Atrend B12D: A ported box designed for two 12-inch subs, this enclosure is constructed with durable materials and offers good bass response. Pricing around $100.

2. QPower QBOMB12: A heavy-duty subwoofer box that fits single 12-inch subwoofers. It's designed to give you good sound quality and performance (around $120).

3. Skar Audio Dual 12" Vented Subwoofer Enclosure: Another great choice that accommodates two 12" subs and is well-constructed for optimal sound (around $150).

### Suggested Combination
  • Subwoofer: Rockford Fosgate P3D2-12 - $140
  • Amplifier: Rockford Fosgate R500X1D - $250
  • Enclosure: Atrend B12D - $100

Total: $490

This combination leaves plenty of room in your budget for wiring (speaker wire, amp kit) and any sound deadening materials you may want to add for better acoustics (like Dynamat or similar).

### Installation
For installation:
  • Make sure your wiring matches your amp and sub's specifications.
  • Connect power, ground, and remote turn-on wires appropriately.
  • Set your gain and crossover settings on the amp for the best sound quality.

### Final Thoughts
These recommendations aim to create a well-rounded system that offers great sound quality and performance in your 2004 Honda CRV. Just ensure that any chosen components physically fit in your vehicle space!

Feel free to ask if you need more specific recommendations or any additional help with the installation process. And I encourage any other members to chime in with their suggestions or experiences!

There are literally hundreds of options.

Where is it going, and how much space are you willing to give up?

What is the electrical situation?
It’s going in the cargo area and it’s a single 12 inch sub so how ever much space is need for that and the amp will be mounted on the back of the seat. What do you mean by electrical? If you mean wiring I have all of that already .

Okay, good to know. Anything I list will be well within the stipulated budget. The pics are for demo's, once you decide which best suits you, can talk about brand, bang for buck options.

What are you powering the front and rear speakers with?

That cargo area is pretty large. Are powered subs on the table: dual 10s versus a single 12"?

Dual 12" powered subs like this:

$180 ea. x 2, $360.00 for dual shallow subs, 350 watts each.

Dual 12s, separate amplifier with three different location options:

$375

A single 12" like this?

As to preference for output (not just volume, but bass that is impactful at any volume, from nice to optimal:
Single 12"
Dual 10's
Single 15"
Dual 12s

Guess I should have gave more info my door speakers aren’t amped yet been thinking if I really want to do that this time around it’s just my daily but I want great sound and bass all around so I’ll probably pick up an amp for those also. Let’s talk about bang for buck with the subs and amp I’m down for whatever will fit into that budget right now I’ll be able to stretch it a little but not to much.

Fortunately, these days, you can pretty much do it all, that is what you're looking to do for under a grand.

Going with the speakers you already have: 6.5s in the doors, tweeters up in the dash, 6.5 coax in the rear doors.

At the very least, you must treat the doors, preferably with 1/2" HDPE speaker rings (easy to make out of HDPE) and CLD deadening; this is really important.

Create an account here, load this into the cart, and sit on it; you'll get a 10% off offer in your inbox shortly thereafter.
$72, shipped, for two boxes, 72 sq ft, enough to do all four doors, the floors and ther rear hatch and hatch area, HUGE improvement to the sound, again, a must.

At the least, one box of the stuff!

If you don't, that's on you; just don't say you're not in here, you'll get roasted! lol!

I've used several of these CLD, and it's very good, cannot touch it for the price.

For the rest, hard to beat this for the price, and it will provide 140x4 to the front and rear speakers and 1280 watts to the sub.

$190.00

This in the rear:

$380.00

Plenty left for cabling, etc.
