SPL System Help needed

What's up guys, 1st post here, nice forum. My system was stolen a few months back and then I gave up the car. I'm getting a '89 Honda Civic DX SI Hatchback. I am looking to spend around $3000 for a new system.

I want it to do pure SPL, want to be able to enter and win competitions, the back seats are being taken out and cleaned out, so I have got the entire back. As soon as I grab that car (which will be in a few weeks) I am going to install a 150AMP alt and another batter, not sure of the type, brand or anything so I need some help with that also. I have never used additional batteries, yet. I was thinking about maybe 2 XXX-12's and the max RMS through 'em.

All I want to do is SPL, so could someone help me out and recommend me a system from around $3000 (+-$500). I would really appreciate the help. Thanks a lot guys!!!

Getting XXX's for pure SPL wouldn't be the best idea. I'd suggest some RE MT's if you want to stick with them , or Digital designs 9515/9915 are really nice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

other pure SPL drivers would be....

Mmats Jugger

IA DP's

TRF

Tero's

DD

Kicker L7's

Power HX2's

Orion H2

Pioneer has a couple (can't think of names)

dB monkey

There are still others out there. Just give them a good amp, plenty of space and tuned relitvly high and you should yeild some good SPL

Sweet, thanks a lot dudes. If I did get the MT 18", how much RMS should I put through it since they have no recommendations. I read that with the MT they also give no warranty, so maybe I should be thinking about a different one. I'm looking to go around 155 - 160dB, what would be a good setup? Thanks dudes so far! So much help!!!

go with 2 15" RE MT's. Then seriously, get 4 of the most powerful amplifiers you can get for how much money you have. Make sure to get dual voice coils in whatever impendance you need. Then, i'd recommend a CRX box...do some research...you will wang. peace

I say:

18" RE MT-$450

The new ED amps do 1200@1 i think, there around $250 each, 4 of those-$1000

4 Batteries-$400

Lots of wood-$150

A decent HU-$200

300 amp alt-$400-$500

Thats about 2700 right there

Take the other $300 and use it for other random stuff like resin and stuff

Sweet lovin', that last system sounds really nice packerfan, how many dB you think that would get on a great install? Hehe, another edit of this post. I can't find that 1200.1 amp from Elemental Designs.

Could you perhaps provide a link for me? I can't find it anywhere. Thanks a lot! Could you recommend any other amps or would that be the best? If like you said it was that cheap, it would certainly be one of the best!!!

That's all I found so far for the ED amp, can't find the 1200.1, thanks!!

Do you think I would be taking a risk at all for the 18" MT with no warranty? Thanks a lot dudes, this forum rocks!!!

OK, first...i say decide what class u want to go into and under what organization. Columbus, OH....well i'd say go dbDRAG. There are some HELLA hard classes man...so visit http://www.termpro.com/dbdrag and check out the 2004 rules. Go with the MT's man, they are worth it...or check out incriminatoraudio.com and look at Death Penalty's. Look for some crossfire 2000d's on ebay...pick up 2 15" MT's or 2 15" DP's and get 4 vr2000d's...that's the way to go. I'd say go street max...1-2...and you should wang. I might be up in columbus the 15th for a competition. If so, i can help ya out man, or any other time...i live in cincinnati. peace

Sweet man, thanks a lot! Hey, by the way, where is that comp at? I wanted to go check it out, just to watch! Lemme know bro, thanks a lot.

And for the dB drag, I just read up on it, and I would probably want to Street Max 1-2. Not sure yet.

I've got a question for ya, how much should I get out of the 2 15" MT's and 4 VR2000D's? Would that be enough to compete in the Street Max 1-2? Let me know duder. Thanks a lot.

Another thing, how much space and what type of enclosure would the 15" MT's take?

Hey, got a question for you ngsm13, how would I draw all of those amps? Doesn't it translate out to like 715A? I found a decent priced 300A alt, but I'm not sure if I could fit another one into a '89 Civic Hatchback SI. Lemme know dude. I'll see you at the show, we should meet up man.

yeah, what's that price for the alternator? check out http://www.excessiveamperage.com and check out his prices for 300 on up, i think he goes to 400 amps maybe...

As for the box...as much space as you can get...i say 10 cube net with 160 sq. in of port @54hz....port firing reward and subs firing up at the hatch. Killer box, check out termpro.com for the competition specifics...i should be there, just gotta get my new box finished...starting tomorrow on it. peace

Would a little car like a '89 Civic SI be able to handle all of that amperage? Is it too much? I've been hearing that around 715A is way too much for a Civic.

Oh, does anyone know if I could fit two alternators in a '89 Civic Hatchback SI? Thanks dudes.
