For all of you out there that have purchased the hex style Xlpod amp, what'd ya think about it. I'm thinking about buying the XM-DS1600P5 amp. The mono 1600watts max one. I was wondering what kind of cooling systems these things have. I've heard that they heat up quick and cut out. If they do I was also wondering if any one knows how i could fix it. I like the power that this could deliever to my two Alpine Type R 12's (450 RMS to each). And well lemme know what you all think bout it. And if any of you have any suggestions on another amp for around the same price, needs to be at least a 600 watt at 2ohms, lemme know. I'm still kinda in the market.

sony ***** your better off using your headunit power than that amp, hahahahahaha, but really how much are you going to spend on that amp, i could probably find you something better

Your first clue should be that the "advertised" power is MAX power not RMS power. Its RMS power is only 500 watts @ 4 ohms and 900w @ 2 ohms. Any company who advertises there amps based on the MAX burst power ends up in my black book of companies not to buy from. That being said here are some amps in your price range that aren't full of BS like Sony.

Tsunami dB1100.1 : ~$220 from Avionixx USA (I just bought a dB4440 from them, very fast shipping)

JBL BP1200.1 or 600.1 (sealed box use only they do not have an SSF) ~$180-200 (bp600.1) - ~$250-300 (bp1200.1)

There are alot of other good names out there but these are some amps I know of the top of my head.

Another great amp I used was a RF 225.2 SE. They were really solid amps and I think you can find them on ebay for like $70-90 a piece. running in bridged mode they put out 450 watts RMS @ 4 ohms with

where can u find that jbl 600 watt amp for 180.....the cheapest i can find is 220

Hmm looks like the people I used to get JBL amps through stopped carrying them, so yeah your right, new $220 is the lowest I found. Although I imagine you can get one off eBay for much cheaper, but those your always taking a risk on.
