Sony Vs. Jensen

Hey i found a sony amp with 200 x 2 rms and a Jensen 180 x2 for the same price($250)

and i've heard that with sony you should usually knock off a couple number, so what amp do you think will be more worth while.

and also i only have 1 sub at the moment and was just going to get another but i found a 200x1 rms amp for $199. i have a 15" rocksford fosgate punch z 150-200 rms i'm not sure i can seem to find out. (if anyone knows where i can look that up that would be great.) but would the one sub be fine on it's own because i have a small car(2 door tercel), or does 2 really make a hugh difference. because i don't want to spend an extra like 150 bucks for no difference.

Let me know what you think, or what you have heard in the past

Any opinions would be great

That is a rip off for either of them, and don't buy them anyway. Go to http://www.thezeb.com and buy a profile, you will be much happier, and so will your walet. Also two subs with double the power, will be twice as loud, so if thats worth it to you fine, I personally couldn't care less how loud mine is, so I have one, do whatever you want.

Any others, i'm going at the end of the day.

and i forgot to mention that it was canadian currency in the original message before i changed it, so thats probably why it sounds like a rip off (10 cnd=13 usa)

Jensen = Crap in my experience. If you can't afford something better right now then save up because you are going to end up wanting to get a better amp in the near future anyway. I went through the same thing when I put my very first system in. I first used a Jensen amp I bought from my brother and that ****** so I bought a sony amp from best buy and that ******, eventually I wisened up and started buying quality amps and I've never looked back.

I'd go with the Sony if your hell bent on getting one of the 2. Just don't load the piss out of it, and you should be fine as long as you don't try to ask too much out of it. I'd still like to mention that if you can wait a week for shipping, ebay has the super deals, along with a few good car audio websites. Just make sure you know what your getting, and make sure the seller rarting is high. I'd look for a good power series RF, maybe a Phoenix Gold. You can also get great deals on older "monster" amps if you want to bid.

I haven't ever heard Jensen from "back in the day", but a buddy of mine has 2 12" Jensen's (XS Series - Blue), and some kind of weird looking Jensen amp.

Let me sum it up for you... Good beats from about a block away, but the subs them selves... Um... No. Way too much distortion. :thumbsdow

The amp... Seriously over rated. Over heats quickly. Too showy. Jensen should have spent their money making their stuff better than trying to get kids to buy it because it looks good. (Kind of like Audiobahn's stuff.) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif

I found a currency converter on Google and did the math. $250 in Canadian is about $180 in American money. For that much, you can get something WAY WAY better. Just sit still, and hit a good deal... Speaking of which, my new PPI (Precision Power) PC275 amplifier should be here tomorrow. Does 75x2@4ohms, and bridged it does 300x1@4ohms. I bought it for the 150x2@2ohms for my RE8's. Paid $100 shipped for it. See what I mean? By the way... Just to throw it in, I got my RE8's for $93 shipped. That's going to make my "bump" total $193 dollars in american dollars. With the wood, and screws, and glue for my box, I'd say that bumps my total up to about $200 dollars, but that's still VERY cheap considering what I got for the money... As a guess, with the right song, on the right day, I might be hitting about 131-3, but when I get my amp tomorrow, I should be hitting about 135-6.

But anyway... Think about what you're getting into before you buy, and what you could get with the money. Don't waste it on stuff that's going to last a year and a half then blow up... Buy something that's going to last the stance of time. Like an older Zapco, Orion, or PPI.

Jensen and Sony are almost the same amp. I too recommend you buy a good quality amp such as menioned above on the other posts. You can get good quality amps for that same amount of money, sometimes even cheaper on thezeb.com and on ebay. For that amount of money you can get rockford fosgate, MTX, even kicker at ebay.

dont go either way w/ those. i have a $200 amp from circuit city that will do just fine for u. its a 2 channel kenwood 800 w amp. it pumps out 460w to one sub if bridged but if that too much for you you can still get a much better amp than the sony or jensen for $200.

well I dont like sony and have only owned one Jensen amp ( its a 4channel though not for subs), I am very happy with the amp, but it was given to me, would never pay $250 for either but I have not ever had a problem with my Jensen amp and It meets my needs at the time, so I guess Im saying buy somthing else but even I use Jensen so whatever.
