today i just received my jbl 1200.1 amp and i ****ed the voice coil on my alpine type R 12 does anyone know how to fix a wire that broke going from the voice coil to the speaker please help me i can not afford to buy another type R both wires coming negitive terminals are broken by the way this is the dual voice coil type R

i would try to solder it but shouldnt those subs be under warranty or did you buy them a while ago. also if this happened i wouldnt push as much power to them i would guess this happened from pushin to much power if that doenst work i have no clue how to fix it

Did you run all that power to just one type R sub?

I like to give my subs lots of juice, but 1200watts rms to one alpine type R sub sounds like overkill to me.

Take the sub back to the retailer for warranty because there maybe stuff in the voice coil that burned as well, making it impossible for you to fix.

Speaking of Type R subs...

compared to Infinity kappa perfect 12's, How hard do they hit..under NORMAL power?

I run a 15inch Type R off of a planet Audio 1200d. @ 12 volts my amp is pushing 1080x1 @ 2 ohms. I hit 144 at comp. This sub can handle the power you feed it. Best $250.00 i ever spent. In case you are wondereing i also work at an audio shop way up here in Canada so I have researched these subs thoroughly.
