here's food for thought: If tomorrow someone took every single thing that bill gates owns, and i mean reduced his net worth to zero, and then also reduced MY net worth to zero, which of us would be worse off? (FWIW, i'm a broke college student with nothing to my name than a buick with a half-completed sound system in it and most of two college degrees).
Point being, the rich have more to lose, should the US government destabilize for any reason, and I guess as such should perhaps be charged more to maintain and defend it, to an extent.
HOWEVER, i'm certainly not saying that the poor should not be taxed and that the rich should give a ridiculous percentage of their income to the government which should then be redistributed to the poor. No way. If the government wasn't so freaking big, illogical, and frankly out of touch, there wouldn't be a deficit and we wouldn't be in this jam in the first place. Big government = no win.
as for the OWS people, i respect them for challenging the status quo, but they seem to lack a specific direction and i'm pretty sure they're not going to accomplish anything until they fix that.
