So...

Actually I said I respect the fact that they stood up for what they believed in.
I for one am happy to see them come out and say they want to take more from the rich and redistribute the wealth. It's much easier to have this debate when they admit what they are about.

here's food for thought: If tomorrow someone took every single thing that bill gates owns, and i mean reduced his net worth to zero, and then also reduced MY net worth to zero, which of us would be worse off? (FWIW, i'm a broke college student with nothing to my name than a buick with a half-completed sound system in it and most of two college degrees).

Point being, the rich have more to lose, should the US government destabilize for any reason, and I guess as such should perhaps be charged more to maintain and defend it, to an extent.

HOWEVER, i'm certainly not saying that the poor should not be taxed and that the rich should give a ridiculous percentage of their income to the government which should then be redistributed to the poor. No way. If the government wasn't so freaking big, illogical, and frankly out of touch, there wouldn't be a deficit and we wouldn't be in this jam in the first place. Big government = no win.

as for the OWS people, i respect them for challenging the status quo, but they seem to lack a specific direction and i'm pretty sure they're not going to accomplish anything until they fix that.

I agree we don't have any brains organizing anything anymore. Ghandi was the $hit.

Being upset with OWS people?...understandable

Being upset with Ghandi?...unbelieveable.

A tax code that takes the same percentage from everyone would still result in the rich paying more than the poor.

x% of a gazillion dollars > x% of broke college kid's income.

I'm, not assigning intentional malice to your position, but history has shown that it's all to easy for the majority to rationalize discrimination against a minority group.

Time to start over. Its about time for our next civil war. Every country has them so to say it want happen again here is a dream. Maybe harsh but the only thing that really makes a REAL change in any country is WAR. Look back at history and you will see this to be tru.

Then there will be no change. E1 will talk till they die and the next gen will talk to they die while nothing changes. I don’t know of any people that have access to WMD's so to say civil war can't happen is alil naive. Country's fall civilizations fall it's a fact and history repeats itself because we as humans have changed very lil. We might think we are more civilized then the past gens but we are not we are the same. But who cares 2012 is right around the corner LOL...

Twisting my words? I said less likely not impossible. It is less likely especially right now because the standard of living is still higher than the risk involved in a revolution. Not enough people will be on board with a revolution unless the standard drops dramtically (I know the economy is bad, but it isn't near pushing to a revolt, and I don't see one in the near future.)

may be an exaggeration but there is alot of backing to it.....
id drug test every last person on welfare and section 8...u fail then ur off......
Yet they can use that money to buy cigarettes and tobacco and that is perfectly fine??

Must be nice how bout you share some of the wealth.
Don't know if you're joking or not but just in case you're serious, why do you concern yourself with how much others have?

More to the point, I have never seen anyone from any political stripe, explain the relevance of "the gap between the rich and the poor."

Until a credible explanation shows up, that gap is nothing more than an "envy gap".

I don't care if my proverbial neighbor has a bigger house, nicer car, more money...whatever.

Petty jealousy.
