So...

I respect the OWS activists because they stand up for what they believe in and do something. They should be called the 1% because 99% of you bit(chs just complain about whatever you think is wrong and do nothing about...

**** it, I had a 1000 word essay written and accidentally hit the back button.
Do you know which tax bracket I'm in? I can afford to pay more and will and I still stand with OWS.
No I don't and I don't care, because I think you deserve to be treated equally under the law. (And that includes tax law.)

Discrimination is wrong, and it's particularly counter productive. You think people will just sit there and take it? Most rich people didn't get that way by being stupid or passive.

Actually if people opened there eyes and looked around government, major organizations, even locally wherever your at, no one is treated equally. We live in a time where it's mores so about who you know than what you know. I've seen many high profile jobs where people got in not because they were qualified but because they new someone or was related to someone. So that "equality" thing that people talk about is really just an illusion once you really start to delve into it.

There's a ton of rich people that were already born into affluent families. I don't know the numbers but I'd bet it was more than half of the richest percentage of the population were born into their affluence.

One main problem, which anyone who's not a politician will have a problem with, is this.

They get a free ride through life, without really putting in time now. Its got horrible, I posted this a while ago, but I think its fitting

Oh Warren Buffett

Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling:
"I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 day.........s to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure.

Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

Congressional Reform Act of 2011

1. No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen.

Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

And you think legislating discrimination is a "fix" for the issue you perceive? Without individual rights, "democracy" is nothing more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner.

And you would lose that bet. Racial bigotry has its stereotypes, and class bigotry seems to have its own set of stereo types. One of which is the "rich people are born into it" stereotype.

The Decline of Inherited Money - The Wealth Report - WSJ

My Krugman post brought a lot of emails asking about my assertion that “the vast majority of today’s rich didn’t inherit their money, but made it themselves.”
For the sake of brevity, I didn’t cite the research behind the statement. But since many of you have asked, and we aim to please here at the Wealth Report, here are my three main data points:

1. According to a study of Federal Reserve data conducted by NYU professor Edward Wolff, for the nation’s richest 1%, inherited wealth accounted for only 9% of their net worth in 2001, down from 23% in 1989. (The 2001 number was the latest available.)

2. According to a study by Prince & Associates, less than 10% of today’s multi-millionaires cited “inheritance” as their source of wealth.

3. A study by Spectrem Group found that among today’s millionaires, inherited wealth accounted for just 2% of their total sources of wealth.

Each of these stats measures slightly different things, yet they all come to the same basic conclusion: Inheritance is not the main driver of today’s wealth. The reason we’ve had a doubling in the number of millionaires and billionaires over the past decade (even adjusted for inflation) is that more of the non-wealthy have become wealthy.

So it’s not just that the same old rich folks are getting richer. The more-important shift is that the rich are getting more numerous.

Lol I can't think of another effin job where you can vote for a pay raise for yourself.

Our problems in this country can be solved if we focused on those problems. Not the problems of other countries and fighting dumba ss wars on top of overpaid underworked politicians who care more about getting reflected then getting anything done

Our GDP produces enough to support unemployment, welfare and, all of those other government programs and still have an huge surplus remaining.

It's easy to point the finger at those govt "handout" programs because that's the propaganda that's thrown at you.

omfg that bish in that vid is so annoying I don't know how that guy had the patience to not punch her in the face. Lol she didn't even have a single fact her only points were A. He is rich and should pay more money in taxes. B. Get rid of the Bush tax cuts....without a single reason why, except saying 99% of us are too broke to do anything about being broke. lol what a tard.

Well I'm man enough to admit I was wrong if that study is anything close to reality.

I never said anything about legislation discrimination or anything about a fix. I'm just saying we live in an unequal world and it will continue to be as such. Dont complain about it, do something about it.

I pay about 600 a check for taxes and I make enough to live happily and I am happy. Most people just want something to complain about. If your living good and eating good stfu and keep doing it and If you have a problem act on that shi(t if it makes you that butthurt.

What percentage of the GDP do you think the government should take?
Lol there are people a lot more intelligent then me that cant answer that. I know one thing, and that is if we stopped trying to focus on all of these other countries problems ,( most of which have been here 1000s of years longer than ours ) We'd be ok and be able to solve some of our own problems and work on making ourselves a better country. Cuz right now it seems like the only country we're making better is china...

Sorry. I thought you supported the OWS people. They want to discriminate against the rich by making them pay a higher tax rate than the rest of us.

It's highly unlikely that $600/check is enough to cover your proportional burden of our bloated government. The current tax code is set up in such a way that places a disproportionate burden on a minority of the population. This allows many to think that the cost of government is not too high.

If we all paid our true "fair share" the majority of the population would most likely demand much smaller, more limited government.

Lol there are people a lot more intelligent then me that cant answer that.
Well, what percentage of your money do you think would be "fair" for the government to take from you?

know one thing, and that is if we stopped trying to focus on all of these other countries problems ,( most of which have been here 1000s of years longer than ours ) We'd be ok and be able to solve some of our own problems and work on making ourselves a better country. I used to argue the strategic pitfalls of national pacifism, but the numbers are closing in on us. There are no sacred cows in my book. We are broke as a nation. We can't make the payments on our credit cards unless we charge those payments on another.

We are becoming a greater danger to ourselves than any outside threat. On our current fiscal trajectory, our enemies need little more than patience if they want to see us fall.
