"Loud" in 12V language translates into "Sounds like crap". Set your gains correctly or build a different box if you want it to be louder and still sound decent.
my stuff sounds good with loud on, and it's not even turned high, usually at about 18-22, the only thing that ***** my stupid trunk rattling now, gotta do someting about that
i thought loud was only for when you had the volume low, so it would still sound like , i guess you could say good, if i turned my old head unit down and put loud on it still sounded kind of powerful, but like other peopel have said, when you turn the volume up it didnt sound good to me. just my thought. im probly wrong
"Loud" stands for "Loudness Compensation". It boosts low and high frequencies at low volume levels to compensate for your ears' sensitivity. In theory, if your system sounds good at low volume without loudness, it should sound boomy and harsh at high volume. Not your system's fault, it's your ears.
A correctly implimented loudness function decreases boost as the volume control is increased. It's been on hi-fi amps for over 50 years. Digitally applied loudness however varies in effectiveness greatly with the specific dsp used. Some work as they should, some don't.
I use mine because the system sounds anemic at low levels otherwise, as it should.
