so i learned to weld today.

My exact point. Thats why you don't call it arc welding. Mig and stick both have an arc. And you, yourself said it best "Their two different types of welding" despite the incorrect use of they're.
Yes they're two different types of welding. Mig welding uses a wire feeder with a argon bottle, you push the button and start to weld. Stick is always considered arc welding, you use a welder with a rod. You strike the rod on the metal like a match to create the first arc to start welding. Which is where Arc welding comes from.

Omg..

Ok yes or no question

Is mig welding arc welding?

Thats pretty good. It is impressive that you picked right up on stick welding. I remember my first time learning, not quite as successful. It was more of the stick getting stick to the base metal. Ahhhh thats a b*tch.

hell, the first time i started to stick, it took me forever to get it going. i think the sticks themselfs had some moisture in them though.
he told me i had natural talent, so idk i could be looking into this welding thin i hear you can make ALOT of money.

i know some people that make 30+ an hour doing it. i love welding, do it all the time for work. but i don't think i could do it all day, every day for a living. it's a HOT job though working like that all the time.

Some rods are supposed to have a little moisture! I've seen oldtimers dip rods in a bucket of water. You don't want to do that with low hydrogen rods though such as 7018.

Who ever said they use argon as a shielding gas for mig is wasting their money!

Those weld look decent for a newb. Do you know any specs on the rod or machine used?
