stick is generaly called "arc". and wire is generaly called "mig". then u have several other types of welders to throw in there.

What is mig? Mig is GMAW. Gas metal arc welding

What is stick welding? Shielded metal arc welding.

Calling SMAW arc welding is retarded.

My exact point. Thats why you don't call it arc welding. Mig and stick both have an arc. And you, yourself said it best "Their two different types of welding" despite the incorrect use of they're.

I learned how to weld at the shop...

Craftsman welder with auto feed wire... and can of argon...

Not even sure what kind of welding it is... but it wasn't too hard. Just make steady circles... and lay down a nice even bead.

Yea mig can be taught in a matter of 10mins. But welding overhead, vertical, gap welding etc.. It gets tricky.

Oh yeah, I would imagine. I'm by no means great... but for simple fabrication... like I made an undervehicle battery rack... I did a good job...
