Sleep Apnea

sleep apnea can be caused by a myriad of scenarios. My wife thinks I have it and Im pretty slim so its not just fat people (I had a sleep study done and didn't show significant apnea tho). Snoring can be attributed to the sinus cavity and nose more than anything.

All do respect. It is not caused by being overweight though it CAN be a factor. The fat "squeezes" the air passage way. Ever noticed an obese person trying to breath? They weeze really bad. Why did the doctor have him go all day on the monitor? I just went for my sleep test and there is about three times the amount of wires that he has on (when you do the test) the funny thing is they expect you to sleep. My machine is great, and I feel a ton better I have a lot more energy to work on my stereo and no more falling asleep while driving.
how much did you pay for all this?

I had it pretty bad and they had to trim my soft palet, remove my tonsils and strightened my nose. It sucked bad and plus it was done at a VA hospital and they are really FTL out there.
Same here, plus removed uvula. Was THE worst F'ing pain I've ever had and I fractured 7 ribs the year before and that was rough. But not even close to the pain when healing from the the apnea surgery. I lived on liquid vicodin for 10 days and could barely get that shit down without my knees buckling and tears running down my face. On day 5 of NO food or sleep I begged my GF to kill me and I was dead F'ing serious.

One other wonderful memory: the first 2-3 nights I'd be laying up in bed kind of falling asleep then I'd start choking from the blood running down my throat. Look down and my chest/stomach are covered in blood as it's pouring out my nose.

Sad part is I haven't noticed any great benifits as my sleep patterns still ****, but I don't snore anymore, big deal...

being overweight can be a contributing factor, but it's not the cause. I'm not fat and still had it very bad. Would literally choke to death in my sleep every night. Funny my ex never mentioned it in 21 years, but the GF did after a few nights.

I feel you man. They had to remove my uvula along with everything else and I remember sitting on the couch and comming to tears on how much I hated not being able to eat or get rid of the pain. I was on liquid Lortab and they didnt do shit for me. The morphine was nice for the first 2 days but when I went home it sucked ***. I would never want to go through it again.

I have not received all of my bills yet but it will probably be around $4000. (We will see how much I have to fight with my insurance). My machine is so quiet. My wife can't even hear it. The crazy thing is when I wake up I smell everything because the machine filters out everything. I am surprised that you guy's doctors performed surgery; usually the scarring makes it worse.

I have apnea. I have used a cpap for the last 2 years, life saver it is.
I remember you telling me a story about how the power went out once so you had to wire up your bank of G31 optimas and a power inverter in your house to run your machine. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

What happens you are not getting good enough sleep so you get so tired you pass out while driving?
I go to a pulomologist for my lungs (have sarcoid) and that seems to be what most people are there for (sleep apnea)
Pretty much. I actually would get about 5 minutes of sleep per night, so I would knock out anywhere; driving, standing, eating..... ****ing everywhere.

Think of it this way. How would you like to stop breathing and get "woken" up 46 times within 7 hours of sleep (that was my results). That is why you get heart attacks (just like fire fighters have a higher rate of heart attacks).
