Should I become a ricer and buy this car?

Well I really need a second car. I will probably just let my G/F drive my Mazda, and I will drive whatever second car I get. I am looking to spend 3k at the most, and I came across this civic. I have never really liked Hondas, but it seems to be a decent choice for cheap, fast, and fuel efficient. I know, its yellow, lol but I honestly dont care. Anyone know about these cars? Is 12 psi safe on the stock engine? What should I look/listen for when i go to test drive it?

Pennswoods.net Classifieds: honda civic clean cheap and boosted

EDIT: Some other options I have seen are a 93 Lexus SC300 for 2800, a 96 SAAB 900 SE Turbo for 2500, a Subaru SVX for 1900, and a 95 200sx Se-R(beat to hell) for 850 bucks. Which one would you guys get?

I'd drive it. 12lbs isnt much, and d16's are everywhere. So even if something did happen parts for that engine are dirt cheap.
I have never really worked much with cars, so reliability is something I am worried about. I dont wanna have to be working on it every weekend. Think this car will be a big headache?

Hahaha "5 inch monster tach!"
Yeah, made me lol too.

Not a ricer. I think you have your terms confused.
Yeah, around here, any Honda is considered rice lol. I personally think it looks pretty nice, and should definitely be quick I would think. Anyone know what kinda HP numbers this thing would do? 250? Or close to that?

Yeah that car really isnt riced out, and I love those hatches. And reliability you'll be good. Its a honda, I was just saying if something did happen parts are cheap and those engines are really easy to work on. If you have a buddy that remotely knows anything with a little research I'm sure you two could fix whatever the problem was. If the guy built it right, you shouldnt have a problem with it.

I have been texting the guy and he seems to know what hes talking about. What should I look for when I go take the car out for a spin? Anything that is a common problem that a noob can spot/look for? I will notice obvious things like missing/bad ******, but what else should I check?

Check the turbo shaft for play.

Watch boost when you get on it... listen to it when its idling after you have driven it to be sure it all sounds right

How do I do this? Sorry, like I said, I am a noob to just about everything mechanical, although this car will definitely be a good reason to get into this stuff //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
