voltage = root(wattage * resistance)

setting gains to 1kw @.5ohm would be:

v=root(1000*.5)

v~=22.36

yea so that formula still works even when the ohm load is less than 1

28.3x28.3=800.89

800.89/0.5

I don't think you should be running an amp at that low of an impedance if you have to ask these questions. Get someone who knows what they are doing or else your just going fry the amp.

yea its at 1ohm giving 900rms to a AA chaos at the moment does anyone know how to set gains using a DMM at 0.5 ohms?

i have a second subwoofer and the box is being built so any help would be appreciated

tune by ear.... DMM is not accurate at all, only good for matching gains on two amps....
