screwing in subwoofer box

Hey guys. It's my first install and I want to screw the subwoofer box but I'm not sure how/where to. I figure this kit would work:

but my dad is worried about screwing into the gas tank or the car rusting in the holes. Should any of this be a concern?

Also any better ways to mount the box? Thanks in advance.

You should most likely screw the brackets to the floor of you car wooden board that cover your spare tire, and makinig sure their is enough clearance that it will not puncture your spare tire.

Well, I doubt you could screw it into the gass tank, however I'd still be careful about securing it that way.

There are probably a lot of people here who have better ideas than me, but I would suggest looking around your trunk or whever you want to mount it, and look for hooks or rings, or something to secure it to. I have a saab and my trunk has two heavy duty rings towards the back of the trunk, I plan on securing my box to these, maybe with rope or something.

but doesn't the box have to be firmly secured to car? is rope ok?

Bungee cords or a peice of wood or something to prop it against, so If you have to remove the box If you have a flat tire It will be easy.

You dont really need to buy those brakets, its easier to go to a hardware store and get some shelf brackets. What i would do is lift up the carpet under your box and but a sheet of wood underneath. Then just screw the brackets into the box and through the carpet into the wood.
