Scosche Wiring

Sounds like you bought the wrong kit. They sell them in 10ga, 8ga, 4ga and my local wally world just starting selling bulk spools of 2ga and 0ga. What do you mean by " the power wire is a weak 14 ft long " are you using wire structurally or for power ?
I couldn't find the 0 and 4 ga at Walmart. What section is it in?

I like the $5.00/ft price, reminds me of a local store here. Gone there when I needed something in a hurry and when I heard what it would cost (more than tripple) what I could mail order it for. Guess what happens???? It gets ordered, nothing is worth spending money you don't have on. As far as qaulity goes, I wonder if any of your wire "brands" have a UL rating, need I explain what that means. I just recently found the scoshe wires in local walmart and was looking for more info on them when I found this site. I will purchase a set tomarrow and do some testing to see what the real answers are. But for now this should be easy to follow. a) For those that say "name" brands are better than no name brands, you should do your homework, yes there are new companies bringing new produst to market. But a good number of them are simply reselling an item manufactured overseas under a different name. Want to know for sure go visit the factories where its being made. If they'll let you. I can expand on this later. B) Differences in wire, what one needs to focus on is sizing, if you are running so much current that your pushing the limits of your wire, or blowing fuses, etc. you have sized it incorrectly. I use wire is many different applications in life, I would never load anything at more than 65-70% . I haven't been able to find any specs online from any Audio manufacturer for their wire. 4 gauge should handle at least 100amps. 105 - 145 depending. If lights are dimming then you need to beef up the supply, bigger alternator, bigger battery, or multiple batteries and charging system. C) Capacitor - Don't waste your money on these (can't wait to read the threads on this:) ) Buying a $125 capacitor is a "quick fix" if your electrical system/wire sizing can't handle the load you are putting on it, fix it right by increasing wire size/ aternator, and or battery. They look cool but in my book its poor design. Use of caps to filter out electrical noise is fine but you might be dissapointed, they won't be as big or look as cool. But if enough people want them I'll buy some caps from CHINA at $0.001 ea and put them in big cool looking package and sell them for $100.00 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif just kidding.

But lets face it, most people like to brag about name brands and how much it cost them. Instead of focusing on quality and look. they look for a name. I would like to see all installers remove all the names from the equipment they use. Getting back to the Walmart wire, if YOU like the way it looks (Doesn't look bad) than use it. The Twisted Pair/ shielded RCA's are the way to go and the RCA's with the scosche were not that type. When I get a chance I will test the wire and post the results. Heres a question for all the gurus in here, where are you grounding your amps? (another great topic) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
