Resonant Engineering Prices

Hello Yall,

After some advice from this board, I have decided to go with a 12" 2-ohm DVC sub from Resonant Engineering. Now I am trying to decide between the SX (use to be HC) or the XXX. I plan on running a parallel wire setup at 1ohm/900wrms (its a soundstream picasso 900.1). What do yall think I should go with? Also, I have been looking for prices but I cant seem to find any?

Anyone have an idea as to which sub (SX or XXX) I should get and how much it is?

Thanks,

John

what are you looking for sq or spl, i would go with the xxx for sql, and the sx for spl, i think the xxx gets louder with more watts, like 2000, but dont quote me on that, if i had your amp i would buy an SX

call RE

or email em at reaudio.com

the sx and xxx lines are both great woofers...the xxx taking the cake in power handling, sq, and both are fairly equal in spl from what i hear...until a certain extent where the xxx takes over b/c of it's power handling abilities...i'd say sx and you should be more than happy.....900 wrms isn't really enough to get full potential from a xxx whereas it will tickle the sx nicely

thanks for the help so far guys...I really cant answer your question 78nova, I dont know what sq or spl refers to...I need to do some research on this forum. I am definitely not trying to be an annoying noob. I have alot of research to do bc I plan on building my own ported box with my bro in law...he is a carpenter. I also need to know what the heck yall are talking about when you say your systems are "tuned to __hz."

LOL, I am just moving from performance to audio so it feels like I am staring all over again...lol, oh well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

-got that straight from re

its okay we were all noobs to car audio once

spl = sound pressure level (LOUD)

sq = sound quality (SOUNDS GOOD)

sql = a 50/50 of spl and sq

the xxx is more sql orientated but being able to get REALLY FUKEN LOUD and i think the sx is a little bit more spl than sq

here are the prices i found in another thread

hertz is waves per second/cycles per second/frequency, what type of port are you going to use on that box you are going to make

wow, you guys are great...I am an older member on some other car sites and yall are inspiring me to take it easier on some of the noobs we get! LOL

I read on another thread that you suggested gnomeaudio.com to help with box building. I suppose that the ports would be circular (is that a legitimate answer or did I just make an ass out of myself? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

yes, a port (enlongated hole in a box) adds the rear wave coming from a sub to the front wave.....you tune it by changing it's size, ie length or height and width, tuning high will yield lots of sound and less quality, tuning low will yield less sound than tuning high (still more than a sealed box) and better sound quality than high tuning...i'd say w/ either sub tune somewhere between 30-35hz.....

any other questions just pm me or email me

your obviously an ass //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif j/k but i think you can make a circular port a square port or a slot port, i think the slot port is the easiest and best to use, and yes gnomeaudio.com is very good, i think hes having a sale on box plans right now until the end of april for 10 bucks, tell him what cubic ft. you want and what you want it tuned to and he will email you the diagrams

ass or urself //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

but the port will probly be a slot //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

hmmm. ok, so if I wanted to tune between 30-35hz what kind of dimensions (h,w, and l) should I go on the port?

and thanks for giving me the ok to pm you with ?'s ... I promise not to got nuts with questions //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

also lower tuning makes for good sq and higher tuning makes good spl i would go with 34 hz with those subs if i want sql but i like a lot of spl so im going to tune mine to around 39

hahahahaha...I now know I just made an ass out of myself...lol...ahhh well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
