replacing foam surround on Bazooka 6" speaker

Hi All!

I recently bought a used RS Bazooka amplified 6.5" tube from someone (used) and once i received it noticed that the surround was broken..(YIKES)...So, having some electronics backgrown I ordered a new surround from SpeakerWorks in Seattle ($17 inc. shipping). I did a good job in replacing the surround, making sure the cone was centered etc....My question is...when the sub hits a very low note-as in a kick drum at medium loud volume- i hear a definite "click" in the cone when at it full excursion...kinda annoying.....Is this because of the new surround being not a "factory" one...or is this distortion normal for this size woofer..(a little dissapointing to say the least)? Otherwise, actual bass notes sound pretty tight and all. does a new speaker surround need to be "broken in" (no pun intended) so it becomes flexible...OR.. is the new surround just TOO loose and causing the distortion...HELP!

The click usually means it is screwed up the voice coil is screwed up and hits the magnet=(
