Replacement Radio 2012 Mazda 3

We have a 2012 Mazda 3 four-door sedan.

We would like to put a backup camera in it and found that we could actually replace the head unit in the dash and gain the ability to have a backup camera as well as all the modern features like Apple play, etc.

We found an Eonon unit that looks like it’s a very nice fit for the dash. It is at.https://www.eonon.com/mobile/eonon-mazda-3-9-inch-carplay-and-android-auto-car-stereo-m3blx7s.html.

We called a local stereo shop and they said the Eonon units are no good and recommended instead a Sony unit.

From what we can read, the Sony does seem to have better sound quality and starts faster. It is also said that it takes more effort to install and may not work with some of the features without other adapters.

We were planning to install this ourselves or get help if needed. Is it safe to consider the Eonon unit or is the only other option I have the Sony unit?

Any advice and direction would be greatly appreciated. The car itself has been a pleasure and still runs excellent. This seems like a great upgrade if I could just figure out the right direction.

Depends on the overall goal.

Are you keeping the stock speakers?
Do you have the Bose system or the other stock OEM system?

You can get a dash kit that will fit any double-ding in-dash radio with a screen. Check out Best Buy. Less sales pressure and more of a selection of radios, kits, and harnesses.
