Regarding Peel and Seal

to everyone not sure if they should use this .....just try....it will either work or not.(i think it works great) good luck in whatever you choose to do.

this comes from LOWEs and is called Peal and Seel by name. this is in the concret and roofing ilse. it come in 6" x i think 30' for 14.98$ you can also find this online in many diff. widths.

good luck anyone around nw ohio would like to come and see it for your self let me know.

also my other pics are here http://www.sounddomain.com/id/rawdogj1

Does anyone know if Home Depot has this stuff avalable. With all this Hype about Peal and Seal i want to give it a try. I have Dynamat Extreme on my car but my pockets don't like it. I want to try this stuff and see just how good it really is. If possible could anyone jsut name off all the stores that have it.

i am not aying peel & seal is the end all to the dampening solution, but it works if applied properly)this goes for all kinds of dampner)

as far as a comparison, my original SS damplifier is much beter...less smell, thicker

dollar for doallr, you can have some SS for about the same price as P and S

On another forum there was a chemical/sound dampening/adhesive test done on almost every brand/type of mat deadener out there. It showed that Peel 'n Seal is worth every it of the money spent, but no more. It did the job so that after a couple layers it would have the same effectiveness as one layer of Second Skin and Dynamat Xtreeme (the two best test results).
So, does Peel 'n Seal work, sure. However in the long run you will spend close to the same amount of money (for the same results as more expensive products) and more time to apply it.
You said two layers = one layer of second skin. Second skin costs twice as much plus the insane amount you have to pay on shipping. So for the same money one could put down 3 layers of P&S right? So six layers later you're ahead of PS by a full layer equiv to SS for the same money.

Not only this but there's no reason P&S shouldn't work just as well as other sound deadeners on the market. I don't understand why SS has mystical powers. I believe that's called marketing hype.

one the contrary. its not marketing hype at all. It is called customer testimonials..

Here are the facts:

We have no marketing hype.

We have sold products designed for extreme conditions that out perform many competitors.

Peel and seal is a great budget product for someone looking to save money. If it is all you can afford, go with it!!!

If you can afford more, I reccomend that you go with something Designed for automotive applications, be it Second Skin or something else.

IF you do decide to go with Second SKin you will notice that Damplifier, our entry level product, has a foil heat shield 3 time the thiness of the Peel and seal heat shield, is 62 mils thick comapred to 40 mils of P&S, all butyl adhesive compared to and asphalt adhesive, and has a heat tollerance of 450 degrees compared to 150 of P&S. you will also notice no smell, no melting and no need for multiop layers. (though results will be improved with additional layers)

There is a reason why Second Skin Damplifier is prefered by our customers.

there is also a reason why P&S if preferend when considering price... it is a very inexpensive product to make and those savings get passed ont o the customer.

And its also quite hard to find anyone who says that it didn't work out over a long period of time... Maybe the problem is no one has used it long enough to find out how it works long term.
It's been on my doors for around a year and in my rear hatch area for around 10 months or so. No problems at all from P&S for me.

I talked to some rep for "protecto roof" and he had a couple interesting things to say. First, that he knows another company (wouldn't say which) that sells the exact same thing they use for roofing applications for automotive. Secondly, he reassured me this stuff won't melt on a roof over a period of 10 years or in a car over a 10 year period. He said after that he doesn't know because he's only used it for 10 years. He informed me his son had used this stuff to sound deaden his car (since he gets it for next to nothing) and that it worked great and never melted or smelled, that his dad knew of.. He lives in Indiana which has some hot summers =)

I went down to menards and bought a roll 36" by 33.3' for $95.00 including tax. Its 45mm thick and this stuff sticks... I mean STICKS. I'll weigh a few pieces cut to 1sq ft tonight at work and post the mass soon for comparison to other deadners. Putting it in my old isuzu pickup just incase it does decide to melt. The truck is never parked in a garage and the summers here are plenty hot. Let this be the TEST!!!

you picked around on my post and only decided to reply to certain things //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif . You are absolutely correct, 2 layers IMO equal one, but try to think on a larger scale because if i were to apply 3 layers of SS like i did in my truck that would equal 6 LAYERS!!! that is a lot of unneeded work and WEIGHT to me when i could have just spent $25 more for shipping and saved hours out of my life.

P&S is a bargain damplifier, that is all i have said from the beginning, but the name brands are tested and proven to be better no matter what you may think.

also, in reguards to your last post, it does not help 1 bit unless:

1) you tell us the "company" that is the same as P&S, because it could also be Fatmat and that was some of the worst damplifier i have ever used.

2) the man has a background in acoustics

I bought 100sq feet of P&S like product 45mm thick today for under $95 after tax. I'm going to try it and use lots of layers... and be done for $100. Its a test on my truck so we'll see how things go down the road and trust me I will let people know either way.

I'm sure one product works better than the other but I'm just looking for results. If it works for me then I'm sold on P&S and if not I'm out $100 no big deal.

Don't know why people are so adverse to something actually being cheap in car audio =P Be it sub, amp, or sound dampner. Whatever, if it works for less it works too ya know. SS already proved that much compared to dynamat.

oh lots of us go the cheap route, because we do know that sometimes there is no difference. The only difference in lots of layers of P&S and a few of second skin is time consumed. i like my time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
