But i wouldnt have any problem running JL just for that price i can buy 2 12's or a better 12 for around that price. RE i have no clue about..

JL vs. RE? I've never seen a JL sub handle 2000 watts RMS on a daily basis whereas Steve Meade used to run that kind of power to each of his RE / FI Audio 18s back in the day. Rarely anyone uses JL subs for pure SPL. SQ-wise I've never been let down by JL Audio, but their stuff is expensive for what they are and I've heard subs that sounded better than a W7 such as the Image Dynamics IDMAX, Crystal CMPX2 or the older Eclipse Titaniums. They all costs less than a W7.

People hate on JL Audio because it's overpriced, overhyped and they're everywhere, but they do perform well. I would personally reject both brands and go buy a set of Cerwin Vega V-Max or Stroker for something different.

And you can always point out the steve meade nut huggers easily too

The custom shop near my house recommended RE and ID. I do beleive he preferred ID though. He also said the cerwin vega vmax subs were a good cheap solution that would give decent sql.

I love my ID subs. Very efficient on little power, get loud and low, and have great SQ.
