does any one know of a way to solve the problem of a rear-view mirror rattling? how about a rattling hood latch (there is rattling from the hood but all you have to do is barely touch at the center of the hood to stop it) and whats the best way to stop pvc port "chuffing" if its already installed in the enclosure? I was thinking of just putting port mouths on it that have really thin walls and just barely fit in the 3" pvc pipe? also do you think thoes cascade audio deflex pads really do anything abouts stopping standing waves in a enclosure?

As for the hood. If you look on all four courners of the body where the hood fits you will see 2 or 4 rubber stoppers. They are attached to screws. Take the front 2 and extend them out about 1/4 of an inch, or until the hood is firm. It sounds like you hood is not set right, and needs to be adjusted.

The hood should have slight upward pressure (supplied by these hood adjusters). DO NOT TURN THEM TO MUCH or you could damage your hood. Your hood should rest on these stoppers, and over time they may have backed off. It is a easy fix and should take about 10 min tops

As for the mirror it depends on where it is rattling from. If it is loose then there is a small set screw on the bottom where it mounts to the window, Try and tighten that up. If the mirror is rattling at the ball and socket, you will need to get a new mirror. It almost sounds like you mirror is worn out, and needs to be replaced.

Most mirrors have a counter weight inside the mirror. (for what reason I do not know) but they too may have fallen off.
