In post WW2 Italy Ferruccio Lamborghini started off re purposing old military vehicles into agriculture vehicles.
He does well for himself, so well that in 1958 he buys two Ferrari's. One for him, one for his wife.
The story goes that Ferruccio wasn't such a good driver and kept burning the clutch out.
After a couple trips to the Ferrari plant to have them replaced he decided to have his own engineer's take the car apart and fix the clutch.
Low and behold the find they clutch is the same tiny clutch the was used in one of the small tractors that they produce.
In 1962 Ferruccio runs into Enzo Ferrari at an auto convention and proceeds to tell him what he found and how he thinks it should be fixed.
This enraged Enzo who replied the problem wasn't the clutch it was the stupid farmer driving it, and he shouldn't complain about driving his cars they were the best in the world.
So Ferruccio, fueled by Enzo's insults set off to build a better sports car and in 1963 at the Turin Auto Show the Lamborghini GTV350 (later known as the GT350) was unveiled starting almost 60 years of intense rivalry.
