If my amp is putting out a 4 Ohm signal to my speakers, which are 8 Ohms, which component runs the risk of being damaged?
The reason I ask is that I have a really old (and cheap) pair of speakers from an RCA shelf system that I would like to hook up temporarily to my amp (until my speakers come in and I have time to install them… a few weeks perhaps). However, I can’t find any documentation for them, and don’t know their impendence. I don’t mind blowing the speakers (they’re low quality and haven’t been used in years), but I’m wary of harming my amp.
