Question regaurding box

kk.... im buying a 12" XXX,,, and i built the recommended box off of the reaudio.com site...

but i think i may have messed up (or my dad did)...

when it tells you the height and such of the box.. that is the inside demisions correct? so going by what it tells you... 13.5" as height, is what you should make it (on the inside)

well my dad got the idea that it's supposed to be the outside. so he made all the height peices 1 1/2" shorter. so the 3/4 of the top and bottom peice would make the entire outside height 13.5"

sorry to be confusing, but would a box that is 1 1/2" shorter than recommended matter that much, sound wise?

i dont think it would. 1 1/2" isnt that much. But you could try this if you want.

build another box by the inside deminsions and then put yer sub in the first one you built and see how it sounds. then do the same with the new box.

I will probably do that,,,, but lol i don't want to hurt my dad's feelings about it...

oh and 3/4 MDF is expensive lol for me anyway..

but thnx for the input, i will sure (eventually) get another box built

why dont u just come up with dimensions close to ones like that. Depending where u place sides n tops. you should subtract 1 1/2" or whatever if u get the picture. Like ur building a box with Outside depth 10" and ur sides will be on the outside of ur bottom not ontop. Then u have to make ur bottom 1 1/2 smaller on the width part.

Where do you live cuz i can get a sheet of 4 x 8 mdf for like 11 bucks
