riven-- how many preouts does your headunit

have (meaning front, rear, and sub. and is the

built in crossover a high pass and low pass.

and the crossover that is built into the jl500

is it a low pass and what feq can it be set to

(meaning 50,80,or 120

I am assuming the head unit's crossover is on a sub pre-out. The JL 500/1 has a variable 40-200hz crossover that can be set to 12 or 24 dB/octave.

You'll have all the crossover slope you'll need using the HU's and amp's crossovers in conjunction.

Depending on your listening preferences and other mid to low bass drivers in your system you may only want to use the HU's x-over or the HU x-over and amp x-over set to 12 dB/oct.

Test your different combination options to suit your listening needs.

But at any rate, another x-over would be a waste of money and installation time.
