Power run on a 1996 328is

I got a 1996 bmw 328is the other day, and found out that the battery for these cars is in the trunk. They also have an auxillary power post under the hood, for jumping and what-not. My question is this, will I do any damage running the power wires for my amps directly off the battery (shortest path) or should i run the wiring from the aux terminal under the hood?
