Total weight with subs is actually gonna be about 145. That was what I had in my mind at first so I’m happy with that. I would probably go for birch next time to save some weight though.

Good thinking on the cushion. What’s probably gonna happen is I’ll throw it in and leave it lol but I would like to do something nice.
Wondering if I should throw in a couple more horizontal braces. I have enough to do 2 more but it’s already got 2 and the pipes braces add horizontal bracing. This box feels very solid already, I just tend to overthink/ overdo things sometimes.
Otherwise I think the box is done. 👍
That looks plenty braced

I got the box in last night and outer bracing done. I haven’t done a lot of listening yet, but overall I'm happy. Just wish it was a little smaller.

It’s not as tight of bass (maybe boomy?) as with the sealed box but it plays 20hz with authority. And a 15hz test tone shakes the whole truck lol. Not much sound at 15 though.

I’m gonna add 2 more outer braces with the 90* aluminum, but this box hardly moves as it is. Maybe 1/8 inch side to side measured at the top. 👍

Generally speaking, when moving from sealed to ported, would you need to turn the gain up or down?

I feel like it’s a little louder but I was expecting to have to turn the gain down. I haven’t touched it at all.

And a picture of the old sealed box.

@winkychevelle I really appreciate all your guidance here. 👍

Realistically you shouldn't have to touch the gain if you weren't clipping. Best thing you can do is run a signal sweep watching the signal with an oscope but you are likely just fine without touching things.

Tuning so low you are still likely louder at lower frequency but should be similar in the upper 40s and 50s.

I do recommend a subsonic filter set to 5-6hz below tuning frequency.

And no problem I just try and help where I can. This hobby is niche and only a small group of knowledgeable people remain. I'm just trying to do what I can to keep it alive

Have you used any of the cheap Amazon handheld oscopes?
Just wondering if I’m leaving anything on the table. My voltage is steadier now too after 30 mins at high volume. Lights still dim lol.
With sealed, my voltage dropped into high 12s after the same listening session. Anyway.

I think I’m gonna try one of those Amazon handhelds.

Well I ordered an oscope. Should be here today. And this beautiful beast showed up today. I’m gonna have to redo my battery and ground terminals, I used 1/2” rings when I needed 3/8”. Wondering if it would be worth it to double up on wiring to my batteries and grounds?

It’s already 1/0 welding cable. I happen to have about 20 ft laying around.
