man scanners are GREAT to have when you live in an apartment complex. you'd be suprised how many people still use those old 40-76 mhz telephones that you can pick up real easy and listen to conversations. the older the scanner, the better...that way newer FCC guidelines and restrictions are not retroactive and you can pick up more with your set.
