Please help-Memphis Subwoofer or JL Audio?

Hello,

I recently got a system installed in my 98 BMW M3. I am pretty happy with it but I originally wanted 2 JL 10's to run with my Memphis Belle MC500- (puts out ~500watts at RMS I think). The shop I went to (friend of a friends) said that he did not have the 2 JL10's in stock but recommended I run 1 Memphis Belle 12inch sub instead. It is in a sealed box and it is hitting pretty hard but I was wondering if anyone out there thinks I would get a big difference if I were to actually swap that sub out with the 2 JL 10's (10W3's). Although the box is pretty small and is not taking up too much trunkspace, I would be willing to go with a bigger box for the 2 JL 10's if it made a big difference.

I have 2 JL 10W3's and have been very impressed with them. I had one 10W7 before which was great but the two 10's are definately louder and still have great SQ. There is more surface area on two 10's than on one 12. Roughly the surface areas of two 10's is 157in. as opposed to 113in. for one 12. If I were you I would go with the W3's and make sure you get the right combination of ohms/voicecoils so that you can optimize your amps performance. If you get two 10W3'sDVC 6ohms you can wire them in parallel down to 1.5 ohms which is good for many amps but make sure you double check. I would then put them in a box that gives them each about .9 net cubic feet and throw in about 50% loose polyfill from Walmart. Here is a great link for figuring out box sizes and ohms.
