I am 16 years old and am now coming to the end of my Drivers Ed, and I think it's time to start puting some work to my car. I have always been very interested in Car Audio and I always buy the magazines and all that so I can look at the pictures, but at a certain point it is just all so overwhelming... SO: I have a '95 Chevy S10 Blazer, and for my sound system I just want a relatively simple, relatively cheap (maybe not too cheap), system that can produce good sound and deep pounding bass, that doesn't look too sloppy. Can you guys PLEASE help me by just suggesting what you think would work well. It doesn't matter if you mix subs and amps. What matters is what you want. So, do you mant a Sound Quality setup or a Sound Pressure Level setup?

SQ:

for sq i would reccomend infinite all around for speakers. For the amp you could go for rockford or JL. But for your interior amp you might want to look at the company Helix Presicion. they make a spectacular amp. For the sub section, i would go with 1 or 2 10" eclispe subs. with a class a/b amp no mono channel.

SPL:

Go with some audiobahn or JL w7's probable 12" or 15" subs. the amp your probably gonna want some power so you'll want a class D amp of some kind. some co. would be RF, Orion, Hifonics, Kicker, or JL. you'll defintally need a capacitor in both application. Also you'll need a ported box, i would suggest that you not build it your self bc there is very little room for and there's a lot of calculations to do.

Just remember, you get what you pay for and that this is just my opinion

For the most part I agree with with Kid. you can mix and match amps and not have any noticable problems other than cosmetics. sub on the other hand are ok as long as you dont mix and match enclosure types..if you go sealed keep em all sealed,, same with bandpass and ported.. A good all around sub would be like an Infity perfect..one should be plenty for a truck.. It is pretty good for SQ and gets plenty loud.. Like he said though buy an enclosure or you will end up having problems as you havent built one yet ( I am assuming you havent anyway).. as for what other stuff to use Rockford also makes good equipment at a decent price. My suggestion to you is to go and listen to as many speakers and subs as you can at different shops then make a decision as to what you liked best.. Once you have everything picked out buy it online but avoid Ebay till you have a bit more experience under your belt...As for amps go brand name if at all possible to ensure you have a good experience and not fry them prematurely..I am referring to names like Jensen, Boss, Power Accoustik, and other popular low end amps..Rockford Fosgate has a broad selection of amps to suit anyones needs...as you learn more you may love Rockford or hate them..I prefer not to get Rockford but thats due entirely to my own opinion formed over the last 13 years.They are a good company though and have a great reputation.

Thanks a bunch guys, this is an extremely big help. Thanks again for your time and thoughts. So here's a quick questions, if I have two 12'' subs, so far I know I want to put them in a ported, double enclosure box, but as far as amps, is it better to have one feeding to each sub or does that all depend on the wattage of the sub / amps? Thanks again guys.

It does depend on what kind of subs you have, i'm the amount of RMS power they take. If theyre beaffy subs and take a lot of power, then you might need two amp for CLEAN power. You could probably just get a class D mono block amp and be just fine.

Get what you want. It really dosen't matter about the mixing amps and subs. But what you pay is what you get. So be smart about spending.

I say a good sub can cost you around 100.

not the best, but to start you off.

A good amp is around 200-250. THats just to start you off.

You get what you pay for. So don't get to cheap.

try a memphis 500d with a set of jl 12w3's or a set of kicker 12" L5's. mids and highs i would suggest a set of jl 5.25 evolutions or mb quart components in kickpanels (thinkin q logic has those) with a memphis studio 100 or higher running of a alpine or panasonic cd player...dont go too cheap with your cd player ... and i would suggest lightning audio , or stinger distribution and interconnects pie also has some nice stuff cheap. if money is no object here go with street wires. go get your alternator beefed up usually 90-120 bucks make sure you have a good battery and get a one farrad cap........this should fit pound good and sound excellent...=)//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
