Plasma TV's

Does anyone here own a Samsung HP-S5053? if so what do they think of it? Looking to pick up a new TV on Black Friday and like the look of this Samsung.

Any LCD's compare to the picture of this model? when I was looking most of the LCD's had a real blurry picture. The Samsung was easily the clearest I saw.

Any same size (50") Plasma that is 1080p compatible and a similar price? Or any other recommendations that I should take a look at.

Anyone have any experience of hanging one of these on a wall? (drywall) and any problems with it?

Thanks.

Looks fine.

But you have to mount the TV on the beams of the wall not just the drywall, i believe.

I plan on camping out for Black Friday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I got shopping to do for myself.

For that price range this plasma is going to be your best bet. We sell alot of these at Sears. In fact i sold 2 this weekend. When you compare them to other plasmas this one is just one of the best for under 3000. When it comes to LCDs there wont be one that touches a 50in plasma like the one your thinking about buying. LCDs wook well in regular room lighting but when you turn the lights out for movie time, thats when the plasma really shines and 50in and above is where HDTV truly takes effect. I would get the samsung. If you really want a nice one to campare look at the pioneers those are really nice

Samsung looks good but they get reallllly hot, that is why i bought this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7803013&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat95100050005&id=1142293092238

i think that is the right one^^ make sure its the Samsung with the shinny finish, the Plasmas with the dull black finish are not the ones to get.

you know we have a section for questions like this
I always miss that section, scroll right past it to the Lounge. Feel free to move this thread there.

The Samsung I am looking at is the one with the shiny black finish it's probably the 50" version of the one in your link.

One thing to keep in mind (I have had this debate raging in my own mind for some time) is that hardly any of the current TV's actually will accept a 1080p signal from a source like a blu-ray player, so the 1080p part really doesn't matter if the TV deinterlaces correctly. The other thing to keep in mind is that if you sit farther than about 8 ft away, your eye won't be able to resolve the additional resolution anyway between your standard 720p/768p plasma and any of the new 1080p sets. With that being the case, I would go for one of the Panasonics. Highly rated, best black levels Home Theater magazine has measured in a plasma, and well priced. I definetly don't understand the big LCD hype as currently plasma offers everything better; color, price per inch, black level, viewing angle, less digital artifacting in motion for things like sports. That's what I think anyway.
