PIONEER CD-UB100 USB Adapter

Not yet, but I plan on getting one for the 7800 I just purchased today.
Sweet. I'm going to be getting a 780 (the premier of the one you bought) from my tax returns when I get my new vehicle.

When you get one, will you try an external USB hard drive and let me know?

Pioneer tells me I shuold call technical services. I dont want to call, because then I will get all their bullcrap and still not get an answer. Lol, babling as a way to bump up. Any news from anyone?

Since it works with the 7800, it should hopefully work with the 880prs..and just so you guys know, circuit city has a 4.0 GB thumb drive this week for 59.99 NO rebates..4gb is like 1000 songs or somthing..

Does it work with a hard drive, or do you know?

And BTW, I bought an external 80 gb hard drive for $54 shipped. Thats like 20,000 songs or something, for $6 dollars less.

But that's only good if it will work with a hard-drive.

Whether or not it will work depends on how that unit is powered. If it is powered well enough, you could run a 2.5" external HD that doesn't need a power adapter. Then again, you can also use a 3.5" external HD, but you'd need to power it by other means rather than the USB bus.

If the USB bus has shitty power (like my Kenwood), you'll probably only be able to use flash drives since they require a lot less power.

EDIT: Never mind, I took a look at the owners manual and it has its own dedicated power and ground wires so it should be able to power a 2.5" external HD, it also says that the maximum amount of memory is 250GB or 15000 files.

The owners manual also says "Partitioned USB memory is not compatible

with this unit." But it also says that on the manual of the unit DEH-P6900UB (which has it built in), and Pioneer says that it actually does work with a hard drive. They havnt said anything about this adapter.

The user manual of the adapter also says maximum current is 500 mA. My hard drive is 700 mA. But this is not a problem as I will rig up a regulated 5v out to it to power it. I just need to make sure this thing will actually read from a HD. If so, I'm set.
