Passive Subwoofer Installation Help

I have a 2000 Nissan Frontier with an aftermarket receiver (Aiwa 200 watt CD player). I have bid on a passive subwoofer (Bazooka) on Ebay, and it looks like I might get it. Is there a way I can install the subwoofer without an external amp? I don't want "thumping bass", just a bit more low end that the door speakers supply.

All 4 speakers in the truck are 4ohm, and the subwoofer is 4 ohm. The radio will handle 4 - 8ohm loads. Anyway I can spice into the rear speaker leads without burning something up?

Thanks

I do not really think you will be happy with just splicing it in. I will not give you the response you are looking for. The bazooka EL series 8 inch are only about 150.00, and they do not give you a lot of bass. They do a great job of filling in the lower end.

Yes you can splice it in series with the rear channel speakers. But again it will not do what I think you want it to. But if all you are after is a little bass, you could go get a cheap amp 50 watts or so and power it. But for all that trouble the amplified version would do the same thing and be cheaper in the long run.

Thanks, I'll likely have to order a 50w amp. I bid on this thing on eBay, failing to see it was passive. It looks like I'll get the bid for $66, so I screwed up!
