opinions on mp3 players

guess I am saying there is a reason that Apple sells 2x as many ipods as all it's competitors put together- it is the best on the market for usability. !

Umm, how many advertisements on tv do you see for ipod? Now how many advertisements do you see on tv for Iriver,cowon,etc etc etc.... ok then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif If all these other mp3 player companies had the big bucks like apple to put out ads i would say there would be a healthy competition between them but thats not the case. Ipod is one of the only mp3 players that gets broadcast time. I would say that is THE ONLY reason why apple is on top of the mp3 world.

Edit: BTW the Ipod has nothing on the cowon audio battery time, even if it lasted 15 hours, thats nothing compared to 30+.

(not directed toward you) But people need to get off Ipod's dick and realize there are better players for the money, maybe if the ipod people stopped jumping around all the time while listening to it, they would be mentally sane (commercial lol)

Now, this would be much more killer for videos especially, though the battery life is something to be desired, but a 2nd battery back could solve that issue.

What do you guys think?

I've read some not-so-great reviews, so I think i may just have to stick with the jetaudio whenever it comes back in stock at newegg. :shrug:

nah looks to big to fit in pocket. cowon has one like that, i would stray away from iriver heard alot of problems with em. Goto newegg and read reviews on different mp3 players

Yeah, i've been back and forth if want just a plain 'ole mp3 player, or one of the media "centers". Though the cowon one plays videos, the screen isn't exactly suitable to watching videos, though i could probably deal with that.

I'm telling you....cowon or iriver. Both have there ups and down. If battery life is a big concern than go with the cowon, blows my iriver out of the water. I just like my iriver for short trips, like 5 hours or less. no imeant cowon has a media player just like that, i would look into it http://www.cowon.com , it might have batt life you expecting and the same capabilities as that iriver.

PMP120...I've had the PMP140 but never used it cause I had bought the European version (in other words, the AC adapter was for Europe & I was too lazy to go to Radioshack & pick up the right one). In terms of size, I thought it was kind of big too from the pictures, but it's not as big as you think. It'd fit in my pockets fine (but I don't wear tight, or even pants that fit just-right). Never turned it on so I can't speak on anything other than the physical aspect.

playa1, do you use the X5 for videos? How does it measure up? I've read places where a guy was getting only 12fps on an NTSC(29.97) video.

In all respects, the Cowon X5 is decent. It's just not as good as the...Rio Karma.

hey, i dunno actually about the videos, i broke my dvd burner upgradeing firmware like 7 months ago(dont ask) And have been sepdning money on everything else in the world an dnot a new dvd burner so i dunno !!! wanna try it out but sinc ei bought my flip out i dont need it haha

why would you need a dvd burner to put movies on the hd of the mp3 player?

I use the auxilary and have a jack go into the headphones jack.

pioneer ipod controller- great if you use a playlist or sort by genre, pain in the *** for artist or by album. Better SQ than the aux in though and charges the ipod.
