I came across 2 of these from a old friend and was wondering what size box to them in . i asked him and all he said was a small box will do them fine about 1cubic ft. or smaller . should i seal or port them , problem two , they are dual 2ohms and i only have for the time being a profile cl600m mono not 1ohm stable so wiring help please.

For you youngsters, the original solobaric radically changed the thinking in car audio (from subs in big ported boxes to subs in small sealed boxes) and actually sounded very good. Remember, amplifier power was not "cheap" 10+ years ago. No with the new Class D/T/G amps, you can easily afford to have ineffecient subs (no getting around the Iron Law of subwoofers!)

JP

i used to have 4 of the old round solobarics...... don't port them at all. they will blow up. but i put them in 1 cu ft of air space each, and they sounded superb. i was very impressed with them. they were much louder than i thought they were going to be (i used to think they were loud) now i know better.

sold them back decided to get 2 ten solos (round ones) off ebay because i already have abox made to those specs. where im at i would have to build or speciel order a .88 12 inch box or drive down to nyc

Actually the change was from large sealed to small sealed. At the time 1.5 sealed for a 12" sub was considered a really small box. nobody really used ported. Enter the Solobaric with a .88 cube recommended and the JL W6 line at the same time with their very small box recommendations and it hasn't been the same since.

Dating yourself a bit there youngster. Ah back in the days of Solobarics being what the anme implied, a single driver representation of a Comp series isogroup. They actually were made to sound good, not get loud.
Maybe he just got into the hobby? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

I've been into it for 5 years now, and I've only seen one to this day.

BTW: I agree with whoever said that they like the older ones better than the new ones. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Kinda my point there, slick.

You're kinda young in this game, too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif.

I didn't check his profile, but someone new to the hobby doesn't necessarily have to be a youngster, slick.

I may not have been in for 15 years like some, but I can keep up with the best of them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
