hey i have a question, it not car audio, but when i was surfin the surfin this site and all of a suddem one of my speakers "popped", I have a KLH and when the bass hitts i get a little squealing high pitched pop, did I break that mother? If anyone feels like giving me some help it would be appreciated...

Saddly for you it sounds to me like you blew the mother sky high..... I blew a JBL 8" and it made a high poping sound when the base hit too. Just to be sure check the wiring and also be sure your not putting to much power to the speaker...If you overpower speakers sometimes they will pop and not be blown..just need less power. Check to see if the inside of the speaker is visably cracked broken or cut..if you have a warrenty on it I'd just take it back and get a new one...

The otherone had the the same watts, etc. goin to it and it's five so im guessin I blew it. Not to worry i can jus suply less power to them and more to my jenson //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I love my jesons 8" subs (floor standing) i just found their true sub power, the blew my pyramid away... and i got em new for 100 from http://www.ubid.com that didn't have any thing to do with car audio but yanno....

(just advice)..

if i were you, im gonna remove the popped drivers... coz it might cause damage to your amps as well as other accesories leaving you with more damage.

my friend once has had a popped sub..and he continued using it for quite a while... then it short circuit without knowing and immediately attacking the amps, good thing it went to protect and fuses are there...

whateva.... but yea I have a pyramid too.. but I am pretty happ with it. I knew it wouldn't cut it in my car but I build a "House designed" box for ir and a cheap cross over from radio shack and it works really well as a small house sub in my P.O.S basment system. Also did you know that computer subs work really well in cars? using the sub right just uses a fraction of it's power. Me and some friends took 2 and mounted them under the from 2 seats and the work great!
