ooookay. well, my good pioneer cd h/u is gone for a couple weeks (long story; short version: i want them to send me a non-scratched face).
luckily, when i installed it, rather than clip and solder/tape a whole bunch of wires AGAIN (its getting to be a mess back there), i decided to use those handy little snap-in male/female things, so rather than go without music for 2 weeks, it was relatively easy to clip in my old sony xr-c5100 tape deck. works fine except for the part where for some reason, my subs are silent when i use a tape adapter to play my ipod (for some reason the rear aux in doesnt work, it says "bus audio in", i think its for changer only or something--anyway i have to use the tape adapter).
when i first got this car and had the subs put in, this was the head unit i had in, and at the time i used this same tape adapter and a cd player and it played fine through the subs. now it doesnt. what is going on? =/ i'm pretty sure that i'm using all the right wires...pretty sure ive got my subs plugged in right...is something amiss with my tape adapter? im going to go try an actual tape and i will update this with my progress.
EDIT: its a wiring problem! i had my blue h/u wires messed up. btw, can someone tell me what the solid blue wire is vs. the blue w/ white stripe, on a sony h/u? its driving me nuts.
EDIT: okay, i think i figured it out. i got my subs working through the tape adapter now anyway, but i have to turn the gain way up and knock the bass eq up on the h/u to get a decent thump =/ but thats same with this radio too, not just tape adapter. so anyway. questions that remain: what are the blue wires? amp controls, right? normally theres only one, right? why 2 on the sony?
hm thas all i spose. thanks.
