Newbie Question about Wal-Mart Amps

Is there anything wrong with them, Im looking at an SPL 2-Channel CRM5205 with 520W peak in bridged, 300 RMS bridged. Is this gunna be an o.k. amp, will it have distortion? is it gunna thump hard enough? The price is $100. Thanks for your help, it is appreciated.

Well, profile amps are in my book for cheap high performance. I know there is better.. but for instance, landing a CA600M for 99.99 shipped, and getting 420watts of power at 2 ohms is kind of neat.

yeah and don't the profile amps have that badass power light on the top that changes colors?

Well, I run the CA series, and I don't believe so. Just a nifty small red line. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/moon.gif.9d317aec3339ffe7fde0638df52c628a.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/offtopic.gif.470a8b0541c72322a0037f48a8237473.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I mean I would probably say that too speaking out of context with regards to Walmart amps. But as I have no proof or previous background with walmart amps (even if I do think they're PROBABLY cheap pieces of crap), I wanna know why they're cheap pieces of crap.

I'm not trying to start something, but I just don't like when people say "they're bad" or "they're garbage just because" without hard proof (like the whole thing with Sony's reputation on this board). But, like I said, they probably are garbage or whatever, I'd just wanna know what makes them garbage...not because of their brand.

Wal-Mart's "Virtual Reality", "SPL" etc are cheap Chinese brands like Pyramid, Pyle, and Legacy. They totally overrate their specs, sound like ass, and aren't known for long life. I suppose if you only have $100 to spend they may be better than nothing. Keep the gains set below clipping, give them enough cooling air and pray to Zeus before turning them on and maybe you'll get lucky.

But don't for a minute believe the published ratings. They're not RMS, they're B.I.F. power (Burst Into Flames).
