NEWBIE HELP PLEASE.....

Hey people..........i recieved a puch x150 amp and a rfp3412 sub for christmas.......well, oer the past few days ive learned a little and im gunna take back the x150 and get a X250.2.

I like Fosgate and would like to stay with there subs......what is the difference between the RFP HE and the RFP HE2....?????......the person who bought this for me gave me all the receipts and ive been looking around online and for the same amount of $$$ they spen at Best Buy. i can get the X250 and the HE2 sub online....I wanna stay with one sub and one amp.......thanx in advance guys.....

Let's see the differences are the HE's are single voice coil, come in 4ohm or 8 ohm, and are rated at 200w rms.

The HE2's are 4ohm dual voice coil, that's the only way they come that I'm aware of, and they handle twice the power 400w rms.

Dual voice coils gives you the flexibility to wire the subs in different ways.

For instance the HE2's are dual 4ohm. You can wire them three ways.

1- you can run an amp to each coil individually. Each amp would see a 4ohm load.

2- You can wire the coils in parallel and show the amplifier a 2ohm load. to wire the voice coils in parallel you connect the positive of both voice coils together. and connect the negative of both voice coils together. Run a lead from one of the positive terminals and one lead from one of the negative terminals to the amp.

3- You can wire the coils in series and show the amplifier an 8ohm load. You can accomplish this by wiring the positive terminal of one voice coil to the negative of the other voice coil. Run a lead from the unused positive terminal to the positive terminal of the amp. Run a lead from the unused the negative terminal to the negative terminal of the amp.

But as far as sounding any different they don't

so as far as having just one single sub....dual voice coils wouldnt matter..?

Wiring flexibility is the only advantage dual voice coils offer over singl voice coils.
