New job opinions

Okay folks.

Right now I work as a Business/Finance Manager for a Honda Motorcycle shop. I make Salary of $36k a year plus commission. My commission averages $9k a year, so $45k a year. Catch, I work 6 days a week. Been with the company for two years and no vacation. Plus the salary here will never change. And unless the economy gets better neither will the commission.

Now, I have another company that wants me to take over their Loss Prevetion dept., which was my old career. They are offering me $40040 a year but would only have to work 40hrs a week. Now with this job I would see annual raises with promotion oppurtunities.

The nice thing about the offer would be more time with my wife and daughter. Bad thing is that I would lose $5k a year.

If you had this oppurtunity, what would you do?????

Are you prepared to lose $425/month of income? If so, go where you'll be happy and have a better opportunity to advance.
See thats the thing. I make that 9k in commission in the summer months. So in the winter I live off my salary of $3k a month. With the new job I would at least see $3336 a month every month. My thing with the new job is the oppurtunity for promotions and actually being able to take vacations. I don't know though. Its alot to think about.

This is all about money.. talk to your wife bro, Im sure she keeps the check book and your nut sack together in her purse ( like all of you married men)

edit: I vote #2 , Im assuming you atleast can tolerate the work that you might accept. Also, if your promotions are actually worth more than say 45cents an hour or some ****** **** then take the new job.

so basically you only see commission for a 1/4 of the year, you may lose in the long run but make more 3/4 of the year each paycheck with less hours definitely switch if it's something you would enjoy or even about the same.

Seems pretty clear cut to me man. A lot less money in the summer months, but more consistent money the rest of the year. More time with the family. More opportunity to advance. More vacation time. See if you can't talk a little more money out of them, but the LP job seems the better option, especially in a couple years down the road.

Pretty heavy thinking here. Either way, you'll be fine. You'll make it with the base incomes. However... Opportunity bro. If you have a place offering pretty much the same pay buy vaca and also growth? That means possibilities. Anyone there you know you can personally ask? Would you be happy doing that line of work again? Also, bring this to the current job, they may **** and offer up more better. And lastly, get anything you do in writing.
